2025 Intermountain Summer Championships Recap
Recapping the 2025 Intermountain Summer Championships
Once again, tournament directors breathed a sigh of relief when the weather forecast for the Mile High City showed clearing skies for Father's Day weekend this year. After heavy rains pelted the Denver metro area on and off for weeks, the tennis gods showed mercy for the 230 players who had traveled from across the Intermountain Section to compete in the three-day Summer Championships, a Level 3 event. The top juniors in the Section return to Denver each year for the opportunity to claim the ranking points and the bragging rights of becoming Intermountain Champions.
USTA Colorado extends its appreciation to all the players, parents and coaches who helped make the event a success. We would like to also extend our deep appreciation for the host facilities: Apex Recreation Center, Cherry Creek High School, City Park (Denver), Colorado Athletic Club Monaco, Denver Tennis Park, Holly Tennis Center, Ken Caryl Ranch House, Lebsack Tennis Center, and Lone Tree Tennis Center..
Finally, USTA Colorado thanks our tremendous site staff and tournament officials, without whom this event could not be held.
We look forward to seeing you all back in Denver in 2026.
Home court advantage serves Colorado players well
The boys draws were dominated by Colorado players, who swept the top spots in 12s, 14s and 16s, while also earning runner-up trophies in 14s, 16s and 18s. Of the 24 trophies collected in boys singles (trophies are awarded to the top-6 in each division), Colorado boys claimed 11, including a near sweep in the 16s division where they finished 1-5. On the girls side, local players captured two titles (12s, 16s), and placed six others on the podium. Colorado players also showed their mettle in doubles, capturing four titles (B12, B14, B16, G12) and six runners-up trophies (B14, B16, B18, G14, G16, G18).
