MID-ATLANTIC WINS
2019 CARE AWARD
November 14, 2019

USTA Mid-Atlantic Section has been awarded a 2019 CARE Award - Companies as Responsive Employers - from the Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS) for a fourth consecutive time. This award recognizes employers that have a deep commitment to their employees and to giving back and strengthening local communities.
Outstanding employee engagement, culture, community impact and progressive family-friendly policies are key characteristics for those organizations winning the CARE Award in 2019 and USTA Mid-Atlantic has exemplified these values and principles consistently since first winning the award in 2016.
“At our core is a strong culture that embraces employees for the unique perspectives they lend and honors the whole person - the family they represent, the causes they care about, the places they live - to create a stimulating and supportive work environment,” says Tara Fitzpatrick-Navarro CEO of USTA Mid-Atlantic Section. ADVERTISEMENT “Winning the CARE Award for a fourth consecutive year is an accomplishment I am extremely proud of as it symbolizes just how much we value our talented team and the community we serve.”
USTA Mid-Atlantic employees are as integral to succeeding on the mission to promote and develop the growth of tennis, as they are for shaping the organization’s employee and community engagement. Exemplifying how USTA Mid-Atlantic embodies the CARE Award characteristics, this year alone several new workplace initiatives were implemented by the organization directly from ideas employees shared. This includes a free benefit program that helps employees with their financial health, corporate social responsibility programs that support local women's shelters, and a new Volunteer Time Off benefit that enables staff to actively give back and engage with the community.
USTA Mid-Atlantic is among a total of 32 companies from Northern Virginia being honored this year by NVFS. CARE Award winners are selected based on their performance in the categories of community involvement and impact, health and wellness benefits, work-life programs and policies, and development and education programs.
“CARE Award winners are top business leaders who demonstrate unyielding commitment to their employees and our community,” shares Stephanie Berkowitz, president and CEO at Northern Virginia Family Service. “CARE shines a light on this exceptional group of businesses and the ways they help to strengthen our economy, bolster their bottom lines, and make our region stronger.”
USTA Mid-Atlantic will be honored at the CARE Award Ceremony on November 15, 2019. Find more information about the impact USTA Mid-Atlantic Section is making in the local community and learn about our workplace culture and how you can become part of our award-winning team.
