Two for Two: Mid-Atlantic finished second at Nationals

The Double Shots from Germantown, Md., that represented the USTA Mid-Atlantic Foundation, finished second at the USTA League 55 and Over 8.0 Men's National Championships held at the USTA National Tennis Campus in Orlando, Fl. on Oct. 20-22. 

 

In the Championship match, the Double Shots lost to Southern California’s Arcadia team,1-2. Earlier in the day, the Germantown team defeated a team from Southern, 2-1, in the semifinals.

The team was captained by Cliff Bernstein and co-captained Henry Forster and features Philip Blum, Barry Dickman, John Payne, Geoffrey Montgomery, Simon Linder, Richard Boothe, Bill Devine, Mark Lichtenstein, Javier Lecha, Bryan Kay, Larry Dechter, David Madsen, and Khoury Ziad. 

 

In addition to the Germantown team’s run, the Grace's Aces, USTA Mid-Atlantic’s Adult 18 & Over 4.0 women’s team from Fairfax, Va., placed third after defeating New England 4-1 at the Adult 18 & Over 4.0 Women's National Championships. The championship occurred in the Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex in Surprize, Az. on Oct. 20-22.
