Welcome Tyrin Wages, Adult Play Coordinator
USTA Chicago is happy to welcome Tyrin Wages as our new Adult Play Coordinator. Tyrin already has a decorated career in all things tennis. He began playing at the age of twelve as a way to meet friends at a new school. Right away, he knew this would be a sport of a lifetime. Tyrin went on to play high school tennis at Morgan Park High School in Chicago, where he was a two-time state qualifier in doubles. He continued his playing career at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where he helped the team capture four conference championships and achieve its first Top 40 national ranking in Division III men’s collegiate tennis.
After attaining his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Public Relations in 2017, Tyrin wanted to give back to the game that gave so much to him. After summers coaching at the Chicago Park District and a season volunteering as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Tyrin spent the next three years coaching and serving as a tournament director at XS Tennis on the south side of Chicago as well as an assistant coach at Saint Ignatius College Prep, where he helped both teams achieve several Top 10 State finishes.
This summer, Tyrin was able to get out and play like thousands of others who learned how health forward and extremely fun the sport tennis is. He has competed in USTA NTRP tournaments, USTA Leagues, our college alumni league, and much more. Tyrin is going to be a great addition to the USTA Chicago team. While his title is Adult Play Coordinator, he will fill the District League Coordinator role but also focus on creating new adult play opportunities. He will be supported in administering the League by Nancy Manolis who will continue to manage the TennisLink side of USTA League.
Join us in welcoming Tyrin to the team!
