RATINGS

TRANSITIONING TO ITF WORLD TENNIS NUMBER

As mentioned last month, we have been working on how the Midwest Section will transition to using the ITF's World Tennis Number (WTN), particularly within elevated junior tournaments. Beginning November 1, all elevated junior singles tournaments (Open Level 5s, Open/Closed Level 4s, Closed Level 3s) will officially switch from UTR to WTN when it comes to player selections and seeding.

The hybrid system that has been in place at these tournaments will remain the same, with a majority of spots still going to players based on the National Standings List (NSL) and the remainder going to players based on WTN, with seeding done by WTN.

You can find out more information on WTN and how it works here, and if you have any questions about how it relates to elevated junior tournaments, please feel free to contact the Midwest office at jrtourney@midwest.usta.com.
