For many of our Northern Michigan high school seniors, their final season was cut short. As our way of celebrating all of these wonderful players, we have gathered stories from across Northern Michigan to celebrate our amazing class of 2020! Congratulations on a great high school tennis career, we can't wait to see what's in store next.
Ellen Collie, Harbor Springs High School

What will you miss most about high school tennis?

I will miss my team the most. My team over the three seasons has guided and supported me throughout my high school career. They make me laugh uncontrollably and share the love of tennis with me.

What are your plans for playing tennis after high school?

I plan on playing tennis at the collegiate level. I will be playing at Utica College in New York and studying either finance or marketing.

What are you most proud of in your high school tennis career?

I am most proud of my titles and records I have achieved in my high school tennis career. I am mostly honored to be the NMTA Female Junior Sportsmanship Award winner in the year of 2019.

Who is your favorite tennis player?

My favorite current tennis player is Coco Gauff because of her extraordinary accomplishments she has achieved in a short amount of time. I love Coco's determination and work ethic. I also enjoy watching her and her partner, Caty McNally, goof off.

What are your hobbies outside of tennis?

My sophomore year I tried out for the volleyball team and ended up really enjoying the game. I also mess around on the piano and love watching YouTube in bed.

Did you prefer singles or doubles and why?

I prefer doubles because of the companionship and cooperation needed to win the game. Before I joined my high school tennis team, I thought I would only like singles. I was completely wrong and fell in love with doubles. I love the fast-paced net game and strategizing with my teammate before and during the match.
