Pride Night at the 2021 Western & Southern Open

There were uplifting moments on and off the tennis courts at the 2021 Western and Southern Open. In the USTA/Midwest Section’s hospitality suite, the annual Pride Night event was hosted – where players and tennis enthusiasts could spectate the sport and celebrate the LGBTQ+ community! The celebration took place August 16th and was free to all who registered. There were 68 attendees who came together to enjoy some incredible tennis as well as food and beverages. Plus, each guest was sent home with a goody bag made possible by Tennis Point apparel company, and the night included a raffle. For many though, the best part of Pride Night was the introductions between players and committee members, including past presidents.

“It was fun to meet so many Midwest LGBTQ players as well as several Midwest volunteers. Tennis is back!” – Feedback from a Pride Night Attendee

The Western and Southern Open has thanked the USTA for its continued support with this event and looks forward to more Pride Night events in the future.
