Tennis for Veterans

USTA Midwest is proud to support tennis programming to help military service members, veterans and their families reintegrate into their community.

Through the sport of tennis, our veterans and their families can enjoy a more healthy and fulfilled quality of life in the communities where they live.

Tennis can be an excellent way to provide a healthy outlet for stressors, maintain physical and psychological fitness, bring families together and increase community connectivity for families in transition.

Through the power of our various tennis programs, including wheelchair tennis and tennis for individuals with disabilities, it's possible to improve the lives of millions with equipment appropriate to age and skill level.

Wheelchair Tennis

The USTA offers a wide variety of sectional and national wheelchair tournaments throughout the country, and gender-neutral divisions were unveiled in 2021 to promote level-based play for all competitors.

Para Standing Tennis

Para standing tennis (PST) is a format for people with physical disabilities who choose to play standing versus from a wheelchair, including but not limited to, those with limb loss, limb deficiencies, cerebral palsy, acquired brain injuries or individuals of short stature. The sport offers inclusive opportunities for adults with disabilities and creates friendships for a lifetime.

First Service Doubles

Play tennis alongside your canine best friend with First Service Doubles! This tennis game is designed for veterans, first responders and anyone 15+ with physical disabilities or invisible injuries and their support dog. Service, therapy, emotional support, working, sporting or any well-trained dog is welcome.

Participants play tennis with their opponents and engage their canine partner with a variety of commands. Read the game details.
