Jensen, Lefler excited for roles as USTA Nebraska league coordinators

Andrea Gallagher | May 20, 2025

USTA Missouri Valley recently hired two new USTA Nebraska league coordinators, Andrea Jensen and John Lefler, who began in their positions on May 12.

Jensen, Omaha league coordinator, has played tennis for 26 years. She applied for the position to get more involved in the USTA and grow the game of tennis. Lefler, Lincoln league coordinator, has played tennis for around eight years and hopes to build more awareness of USTA Nebraska league play. He serves as president of the Lincoln Tennis Association.

We asked Jensen and Lefler what they hope to accomplish in their roles as well as their goals for the future.

What do you hope to accomplish in this position?

Jensen: I hope to get more people interested in playing and specifically get more people playing USTA. I also want to make USTA more social through fun clinics and social events that will bring everyone together.

Lefler: One of my initial goals is to develop and implement a 3.0 men’s league and support the great work already in motion by many of the captains in our district.

How can we grow the game of tennis in Nebraska?

Jensen: I think we grow the game by making it more social. The competitive side of tennis will naturally come out, but I think we need to work on growing friendships through tennis to grow the game in Nebraska.

Lefler: Engage the individuals that are ambassadors for our sport. Support the captains, organizers, tournament directors, facility managers, etcetera that drive growth. Find out what they need, and be a consistent and reliable resource.

What would you like people to know about you?

Jensen: I want people to know that I love tennis. I love to compete and have fun while playing tennis, and those two things don’t have to be mutually exclusive!

Lefler: I like to have fun. So, let’s have fun. I am very competitive, but let’s be sure to remember how fortunate we are to be able to play this beautiful game. I had a cancer scare a few years back, and that experience drives my attitude today. Faith, family and friends are everything.
