2024 Iowa Boys State Tennis Championships

The Hawkeye Tennis and Recreational Complex in Iowa City was the setting for the 2024 Boys State Individual Tennis Tournament for Class 2A. The community of Waukee turned out to be the common denominator in the boys’ singles and doubles brackets.

 

In singles, Waukee’s Quinn Monson battled it out with Waukee Northwest’s Kaden Taylor. The title ended up in the hands of Taylor, who won 6-4, 6-1. Waukee Northwest also made the finals of the doubles tournament. Kellan Croatt and Jake Nelson beat Linn-Mar’s Garrett Bauermeister and Malcom Rice 6-2, 6-1.

 

Waukee Northwest won the Class 2A team title over Pleasant Valley, while Iowa City West ended up in third place.

 

Byrnes Park Tennis Center in Waterloo hosted the 2024 Boys State Individual Tennis Tournament for Class 1A. In singles, Pella’s Jack Briggs took on Decorah’s Caden Branum in a three-set final match. Briggs came out ahead 6-4, 1-6, 6-2. In doubles, North Polk Alleman’s Ethan Moon and Easton Moon took on Waverly Shell-Rock’s Benny Ramker and Luca Myers. The Moon brothers won 6-4, 6-2.

In team results, Wahlert Catholic claimed the top spot, while Xavier came in second place and Pella received the bronze.
