New USTA Iowa CTA grant is as easy as 3-2-1
USTA Iowa is introducing a new grant opportunity for Community Tennis Associations (CTAs) across the district.
The 3-2-1 grant actually consists of three mini grants. CTAs can participate in all three or just two of the components to be eligible, which include: Red Ball Tennis, CTA Awards Program and CTA Scholarships.
“This year’s district goals for all three mini grants are to strengthen CTA finances and strengthen CTA programs,” said John Terpkosh, USTA Iowa tennis service representative and USTA Missouri Valley parks & recreation program manager.
Red Ball Tennis is a $300 grant designed for adult beginners or those returning to the sport. The program is a fun, low-pressure way to learn the sport and improve skills. The game is modified using smaller racquets and courts, red balls and underarm serving.
CTA Awards is a $200 grant to create or improve an awards program. It can be for juniors or adults to recognize community or individual efforts.
CTA Scholarships is a $100 grant to assist with local player opportunities to either start a program or strengthen an existing one.
This is a one-year grant opportunity. The deadline to apply is Sept. 5, 2025. However, if a CTA wants to start Red Ball Tennis, contact John Terpkosh by March 15 at jterpkosh@movalley.usta.com or 913-967-9926.
