Amy Mathew named interim executive director of USTA Kansas

Sydney Hamilton | March 01, 2024

March is Women’s History Month, and we’re excited to make a historic announcement about an outstanding woman in our district. Amy Mathew has been named interim executive director of USTA Kansas!

Hear from Amy in her own words below:

“I have been involved in tennis since I was a child growing up in Colorado, thanks to my parents who were avid players. However, I didn’t develop my love for the sport until my freshman year of high school. Once I started, I never wanted to stop! After high school, I joined the Air Force and my passion for tennis only grew and became stronger throughout my adult life. I have played in eight different sections before settling down in Missouri Valley, which I am proud to call my home.

“I’m extremely honored to be named the Interim Executive Director of USTA Kansas. I am excited to work towards our goals for the 2024 season. Our main focus is to broaden the spectrum of all our programs and grow tennis in the smaller towns surrounding our bigger cities. We believe it is important to capitalize on the uniqueness of our district layout and create play opportunities for all. This year, we have planned to make a big push to our membership to get involved and volunteer, highlight new facilities, create new events in unplayed territory, and encourage grant opportunities, among other things. We have a lot of work ahead of us, but we are ready to hit the ground running.

“I am very excited to watch it unfold.”

Please join us in congratulating Amy on her new role! We can’t wait to see the impact she makes on tennis in the communities we serve.
