Junior Team Tennis Section Qualifiers Kick Off in June–Here’s What You Need to Know

Sydney Hamilton | May 27, 2022

Junior Team Tennis Section Championships are rapidly approaching! With July being National Parks & Recration Month, it was fitting that USTA Kansas held it's Section Qualifier at Riverside Tennis Center early in the month. Teams battled it out for a chance to advance to the USTA Missouri Valley Section Championships taking place July 19-20 at Edmond Center Court in Edmond, OK.

The path to the JTT Section Championships looks a little different this year. Teams must now compete in and qualify by playing in at least one Section Qualifier in order to advance to the Section Championships. Starting this year, however, teams can play in any of the Section Qualifiers taking place throughout USTA Missouri Valley–not just in their home section.

The USTA Kansas Section Qualifiers took place July 5-6 at Ralph Wulz Riverside Tennis Center in Wichita. All About That Baseline and Raging Rhinos advanced from the 18U Intermediate division and will be heading to Edmond!

To be eligible for the JTT Section Championships, teams must compete in at least one match in a Section Qualifier; the top two in each division will then advance. Teams who go on to take first place in their division at the Section Championships will then qualify for the JTT National Championships.

This year, the USTA Missouri Valley JTT Section Championships will be held July 19-20 for all age groupd at Edmond Center Court in Edmond, OK. The USTA JTT National Championships will be hosted September 29-October 2 (for 14U and 18U Advanced teams) and October 6-9 (for 14U and 18U Intermediate teams) at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.
