McAdams Students Earn Section Essay Awards

Kendra Wicks | November 02, 2020

This fall, junior players from across the country submitted essays to the National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) Essay Contest. Two students from the McAdams NJTL chapter in Wichita received recognition for their essays, placing as finalists for the section-level award.

The players were asked to answer this question: “Everyone measures success differently. How do you strive for success in your character development, education or tennis?”

Jzamontae` Caldcleught won the Boy’s 13-14 category. Alex Lee, director of the McAdams NJTL chapter, says Caldcleught picked up tennis for the first time this past summer.

“It was his first time playing tennis, really his first time playing any sport,” Lee said. “He’s a freshman at North High School and he’ll be trying out for their tennis team in the spring.”

Adam Snook took first place in the Boys’s 17-18 category for his essay where he touched on his journey competing in ice skating.

“He really took up tennis this year and had a lot of fun with it,” Lee said. “He’s off at college now but it was good to have him in the program this summer.”

USTA Kansas would like to give a big congratulations to our local winners!
