New USTA Kansas Executive Director
USTA Kansas is excited to announce that Becky Mann Samaniego has accepted the position of Executive Director for USTA Kansas. Becky has served as the District League Coordinator for the past year and will officially begin as Executive Director on January 1, 2020.
Becky lives in Wichita, is a lifelong tennis player, and played varsity tennis for Baker University. She is a practicing attorney, specializing in family law. She’s currently president of the Wichita Bar Association Board of Governors and is active in many other community organizations as well. Her experience in nonprofit and legal sectors will serve the organization well as we strive to grow the game of tennis.
Becky will work closely with USTA employees, USTA Missouri Valley staff, volunteers, and tennis community partners to develop and grow the game of tennis. I am confident that Becky’s talents, leadership, skills as league coordinator, Family Law attorney, and community volunteer will drive and support the USTA mission and help shape the next decade of USTA Kansas. I am grateful to the hiring committee, Alex Lee, Simon Norman and Richard Strange, who were crucial in this hiring decision. The year 2020 brings new opportunities and challenges. We are confident that Becky will help us meet them.
Becky succeeds Diana Christman who has served as Executive Director for the last five years and announced her retirement on August 15, 2019. While Diana will be retired from her official USTA Kansas position, we look forward to working with her in her volunteer role with the Topeka Tennis Association, her league play and other activities. Becky and Diana will work on transitioning responsibilities over the next month.
The District League Coordinator position will be posted shortly, and USTA Kansas looks forward to hiring her replacement.
