Happy Holidays 2022!

Happy Holidays!

As we wind down 2022 and look forward to the New Year, it’s important to stop and reflect. 2022 was an unbelievably successful year for our district. Not only did tennis continue to grow, but our juniors and adults saw great success on the court.

We held junior tournaments in Columbia, Jefferson City, Camdenton, Branson and Springfield. We saw growth in our adult leagues in Columbia. We had our 40+ 7.0 mixed adult team from Springfield make it all the way to Nationals and place ninth.

We saw a resurgence of Junior Team Tennis and have grown our volunteer base. We had Jean Larrick earn selection to the USTA Missouri Valley Hall of Fame. The successes go on and on. While there is always more work to be done, we have a lot to be proud of this year.

I’d like to take some time to thank our USTA Missouri board members. They are volunteers who dedicate their time to serve and grow tennis in the district. Additionally, I’d like to thank Steve Webb — who is our officials committee chair — and our financial advisor Lori Hunt. Both serve in a thankless role and their efforts deserve praise.

I’d like to also thank Leslie Echols, who is our executive director. Her passion for tennis and dedication to our district is one of the main reasons 2022 has been so successful.

Lastly, I’d like to thank all of you. Your passion for tennis is what keeps all of us going. We see how much people want opportunities to play and it drives us to continue to grow our district and offer more play opportunities.

As we all take some much-needed time to celebrate the holiday season with our families, we hope you have a wonderful holiday season. Hopefully we all get some time out on court and are excited and ready to go for a full year of new tennis in 2023.

Happy Holidays,
