Play A Team Tournament
USTA Missouri will host a series of Team Tournaments this summer in Springfield for junior players.
Team Tournaments are an innovative way for children to enjoy tennis competition in a low-pressure team environment. This experience will encourage players of all ages to gain match experience, develop their skills through level-based play, and demonstrate good sportsmanship.
Players are expected overarm serve into the appropriate service box and sustain a hitting rally. It is designed to be delivered as a single event or a series of up to six events, with the objective of providing a fun and social environment that highlights character and skill development.
Teams consist of 3-6 players between the ages of 14 and 18. Teams are gender neutral. Each match will consist of one singles court and one doubles court with player substitutions. No-ad scoring with a cumulative score will be used to determine a winner.
The dates for the events are: June 3 and 17 as well as July 1, 15 and 29. A player may play as many as he or she would like.
Matches begin at 5 p.m. and the event will last 1-3 hours. Team Tournaments will be held at Perry Tennis Courts. The cost is $5 per person per each date played.
