A Look at Clay Courts in Omaha
With the French Open set to begin May 24, we take a look back at a story in August about the Omaha Clay Court Association.
Now that spring is here, clay court season is officially upon us! In Omaha, the Omaha Clay Court Association has three clay courts in Dewey Park, which are maintained by members. The courts were recently opened in April, and members have been doing their part so they can start using them.
“I am especially aware right now that it is only through the volunteer efforts of our members that we keep these courts going,” said Gary Larson, president. “Luting off the dead clay, laying down new clay, hanging windscreens, and installing lines are big jobs we do every spring. Our members answer the call to pitch in. It makes our public clay tennis courts in a city park possible.”
