USTA Nebraska's National Tennis Month events include tournaments, proclamation
May was National Tennis Month, a monthlong celebration that featured a variety of opportunities for individuals of all ages and abilities to play the world’s healthiest sport. Within USTA Nebraska, several fun-filled events were held as part of National Tennis Month.
The month of May kicked off with a Level 7 Boys 14 & Under tournament at Miracle Hill Golf & Tennis Center, with a Level 6 junior tourney taking place the next weekend at Genesis Westroads.
Members of the Lincoln Tennis Association came together and spruced up some old courts with fresh paint and a new backboard in May. On May 10, a Hit To Be Fit event featuring Red Ball Tennis and Cardio Tennis was held at First Serve Tennis Center. Members of USTA Nebraska traveled to the state capitol to receive a proclamation from Gov. Jim Pillen for National Tennis Month on May 13.
The next day, the Norris School District held a check presentation tied to four new tennis courts being constructed. USTA National contributed $140,000 to the project while USTA Missouri Valley chipped in $12,000 via Tennis Venue Services grants. The month wrapped up with a Level 6 Girls and Boys 16s tourney at Genesis Westroads.
