Cornhusker State Games Tennis a Success

The 2021 Cornhusker State Games wrapped up during a hot and muggy weekend July 25 at Woods Tennis Center in Lincoln. Despite the predictable hot temperatures, 277 adults and kids signed up for the annual tournament, which was even more than last year. Event organizer Fungai Tongoona said one reason is because more people took up the sport last year during COVID.

 

 

 

“The numbers keep growing,” he said. “During COVID it was considered a safe sport and people started playing and stuck with it.”

 

 

 

Juniors entered the draws in droves - and adults came out in full force as well, with 157 entering in one or more categories. Tongoona hopes the number of participants will continue to grow.
