Four USTA Nebraska Teams Take District Titles
Omaha’s Koch Family Tennis Center was the setting on July 17-18 for the USTA Nebraska 2021 18-over District Championships for the 3.5 and 4.0 men’s and women’s teams. The 4.0 winners will advance to the USTA Missouri Valley Section Championships in St. Louis on Aug. 5-8. The 3.5 winners will head to Oklahoma City Aug. 19-21.
“We were very fortunate to advance, all four teams were evenly matched,” said Mark Leahy, captain of the 4.0 Omaha men’s team.
On the women’s side, Tammy Tegler, captain of the Lincoln 4.0 team, said it went down to the wire.
“Our regular season was very competitive, and we didn't secure our spot at districts until the last match, but we knew that once we got to districts, we'd start with a clean slate and anything could happen,” Tegler said.
