Meet Your New USTA Nebraska Digital Assistant
Andrea Gallagher is the new Digital Assistant covering USTA Nebraska. Originally from the Minneapolis suburbs, Gallagher started playing tennis as a teenager and has loved the sport ever since. In high school she played both tennis and softball. She attended Creighton University in Omaha and majored in Journalism.
She spent ten years working as a reporter at various television stations and one newspaper in Iowa, South Dakota and Nebraska. Her favorite part about reporting was meeting new people and telling their stories. One of her most memorable experiences was working in Iowa during the caucuses and meeting all the political candidates.
“I am excited to write for USTA Missouri Valley, and combine my love of tennis and journalism,” Gallagher said. “I am looking forward to sharing the stories of players throughout Nebraska."
Gallagher is an active member of the USTA and plays at the 4.0 level. She plays at Genesis Health Club and Woods Park in Lincoln. She loves doubles and singles, but following a back injury mostly plays competitive doubles.
Her favorite professional player is Roger Federer and she has been to the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, CA, four times. Gallagher currently works as a Communications & Marketing Specialist at Southeast Community College in Lincoln. She has two teenage girls. Her youngest is a competitive cheerleader, and her older daughter plays tennis at Lincoln Southwest High School.
