Community invited to courts for Play Tennis Lincoln Day

Andrea Gallagher | September 04, 2025

Register for Play Tennis Lincoln Day on Saturday, Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The free event is put on by the Lincoln Tennis Association (LTA) to spread awareness about tennis and get new people interested in the sport.

“Play Tennis Lincoln Day is a great way to learn the basics of the sport from some of the area’s top tennis instructors,” said John Lefler, LTA president. “We are excited to provide an opportunity for all ages to try tennis. It’s a sport of a lifetime, and we invite everyone to check it out.”

The event will have tennis drills and exercises for all ages and skill levels to take part in. There will be demo racquets on hand for those who don’t have a racquet. This is one of many events the LTA puts on for the local community.

“The goal of the Lincoln Tennis Association is to grow the sport of tennis, and Play Tennis Lincoln Day is a huge part of our mission,” Lefler said.

Participants can stay and watch some college tennis, as the University of Nebraska-Lincoln women’s tennis team is hosting the Husker Invitational that day at the Sid and Hazel Dillon Tennis Center. To sign up to attend Play Tennis Lincoln Day, click here.
