Tri-Level Leagues Provide More Opportunity to Play
If you’d like to expand your tennis resume, consider joining a tri-level team next year with USTA Nebraska. While Adult Tri-level leagues are currently underway in Nebraska, opportunities will be available to join in the fun next year.
A tri-level team consists of three doubles courts which play at separate NTRP levels for each match. For example, one court is a 3.5 match, one is 4.0 and the third is 4.5.
Nebraska started the first women’s tri-level league in 2015 with two teams, whereas men started up in 2018, also with two teams. Those numbers continue to increase as there are currently eight women’s teams and six men’s teams in Nebraska.
One of the benefits of playing tri-level, said USTA District Adult League Coordinator, Kay Merkel, is you get to play with people you may not otherwise play with because they are at a different level. You also don’t need as many players since there are only three courts to fill.
“Tri-level is a great league for smaller communities interested in having leagues as you need fewer players at each level to comprise a team,” Merkel added.
This year’s USTA Missouri Valley Tri-level Sectional invite is Oct. 15-17 at the Plaza in Kansas City. If you’d like more information about tri-level leagues, contact Merkel at kaymerkel@ymail.com.
