Carmen Bond expands play opportunities through Oklahoma Tennis Foundation
March is Women’s History Month, a time to recognize the incredible achievements of women who inspire, lead and transform their communities.
This year, USTA Oklahoma spotlights Carmen Bond, executive director of the Oklahoma Tennis Foundation, whose leadership and passion for tennis has created pathways for countless individuals—particularly women and girls—to thrive both on and off the court.
Since taking the helm at the OKTF, Bond has championed initiatives that go beyond the sport itself. Under her guidance, the Oklahoma Tennis Foundation has expanded youth programs, increased access to tennis in under-resourced communities and fostered an inclusive environment where everyone—from beginners to seasoned players—can develop skills, confidence and leadership.
Bond’s vision emphasizes empowerment through sport. She believes tennis is more than a game; it is a platform for teaching resilience, teamwork and self-discipline. Through mentorship programs, scholarships and community outreach, Bond has helped young women see the possibilities that exist when they are given support, resources and encouragement.
A shining example of the OKTF’s impact came during their biggest fundraiser yet—the ‘We Start With Love: Night of Hope’—which was held Jan. 30 at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. With about 200 people in attendance, the evening raised over $317,000 to support the OKTF’s mission.
“We are so grateful for all of the generosity and love shown by so many people in our Oklahoma tennis community,” Bond said. “OKTF could not share the love and joy of tennis with kids in all 77 counties of Oklahoma without this support.”
Every initiative at the Oklahoma Tennis Foundation is guided by one simple belief: We Start With Love. This principle is evident in the communities the OKTF serves, the lives they touch and the opportunities they create on and off the court. Through scholarships, grants and free community clinics, the OKTF works tirelessly to make tennis accessible across the state.
Bond’s leadership style is characterized by collaboration, empathy and unwavering commitment. Colleagues praise her for listening deeply, advocating for equity and creating opportunities for voices that often go unheard. For Bond, success is measured not just in wins on the court but in the lasting impact on lives and communities.
As Women’s History Month is celebrated, Bond serves as a reminder of the power of visionary female leadership. She embodies the spirit of determination, compassion and excellence, proving that when women lead with heart and purpose, communities flourish.
