Springfield Lasers Season Promotions
The Springfield Lasers will have several promotions as part of its 2019 home season, which begins on July 14 against Philadelphia. Events will include a Kids' Night and USTA League Member Appreciation Party.
Kids and parents, make your way to the Lasers court at 5:30 p.m. to watch an on-court Net Generation demonstration showing how with smaller courts, shorter racquets, and lower bouncing balls, youth players will achieve greater physical activity and feel successful at tennis right from the start. All kids at the Net Generation Kids' Night will receive a free gift at the USTA booth while supplies last. Come early for lots of other games and on-court fun!
USTA League Member Appreciation Party - Wed. July 17
Come to the Mezzanine indoors at 5:30 p.m. for a USTA League Member Appreciation Party! We'll provide chips and salsa and a brat for each player. There's also a cash bar and live music. Get a photo with the King Cup and meet Lasers players. Each player gets a USTA League gift while supplies last.

The Lasers take the court as the defending champions of the World TeamTennis league, having brought home the World TeamTennis King Trophy last summer for the first time in the team’s 23-year history.
The Lasers open the World TeamTennis season in Springfield Sunday, July 14, facing the Philadelphia Freedoms, whom they beat 19-18 at the Aug. 5, 2018 World TeamTennis Finals.
The team features 2018 team star Miomir “Misha” Kecmanovic as a franchise player, appearing in Springfield, July 14, 16, 17 and 18. Kecmanovic, 19, clinched the winning point in the Lasers’ 2018 championship match against Philadelphia, later named World TeamTennis Championship MVP. A rising young Serbian player, he achieved his career-high ranking of No. 83 earlier this month.
The roster also includes returning crowd favorite, American Abigail Spears, 37, who helped take the team to the 2018 championship match with solid doubles play. Spears won her first Grand Slam title in 2017 with a mixed doubles crown at Australian Open (w/Cabal.) She has earned 21 WTA doubles titles, most recently in 2018 in Nottingham (w/Rosolska), and is currently ranked No. 31 in doubles.
Popular Lasers Coach John-Laffnie “JL” De Jager returns to Springfield this summer for his 13th season coaching the Lasers, and his 20th year with World TeamTennis.
