2020 St. Louis Summer JTT Coming Quickly
Junior Team Tennis (JTT) is a great way for kids to get together over the summer and work together as a team for a common goal, all while having a great time playing tennis! We hope to get the summer session of Junior Team Tennis underway early or mid-June!
See the full 2020 St. Louis JTT schedule.
In addition, the Girls Spring JTT season has revised dates (note: these dates are tentative and may need to be adjusted again due to the COVID-19 situation). We are hoping for a short season this summer! Play begins at 4 p.m. Levels of play: 18U Silver, Gold and Advanced.
During the summer, there’s a Junior Team Tennis league for almost everyone!
Beginner: should be able to serve and understand the basics of tennis
Intermediate: able to serve and volley
Silver: junior varsity player
Gold: varsity level player
Gold Plus: top varsity with tournament experience
Advanced: tournament level player
For 10U leagues there are four rounds of play on two courts – two singles & two doubles. Each match consists of four game short sets with No-Ad scoring. The season will culminate with the district tournament July 13-15! It is important to note that all players under the age of ten must play in a 10U league unless they have completed the Youth Pathway through JTT and tournament participation.
The leagues for 12U and up are split into two sections: local and championship. The top teams in each advance to district play, which begins July 13, with the exception of 14 & 18U advanced leagues – those teams will play in a three-day tournament in June to decide who will advance to Sectionals.
For 12U and above local leagues, there are three rounds of play – boys/girls singles, boys/girls doubles and two mixed. For championship leagues, there is a round of boys and girls singles; boys; girls doubles and one mixed. In addition, there is a party court - a second mixed doubles team where the team winning that court earns a chance to win a pizza party. Talk about raising the stakes!
For both local and championship 12U and above leagues, matches are six game sets with No-Ad scoring. The team winning the most games wins the match.
