Saint Louis District Championships
Some of the top 12 to 18-year-old girls singles and doubles players from the Saint Louis area competed in the USTA Saint Louis Spring Open District Championship from April 5 to April 7 at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis.
Close competition made for an exciting weekend that showcased the skill within junior-level USTA Missouri Valley tennis. The matches started on the evening of Friday, April 5 and continued all the way through the afternoon of Sunday, April 7.
Singles Champions:
Girls’ 18s: Emma Staker
Girls’ 16s: Abby Gaines
Girls’ 14s: Sahana Mahala
Girls’ 12s: Skye Madatali
Doubles Champions:
Girls’ 18s: Sandhiya Baskar/Mirra Manolov
Girls’ 16s: Elizabeth Choate/Daniela Rosenberger
Girls’ 14s: Emerey Gross/Skye Madatali
Girls’ 12s: Allison Wayne/Angela Chen
The winners each represented their own age division which included 32 players that led the USTA Saint Louis rankings or held a strong ranking on the most recent USTA Missouri Valley standings list.
These players were some of the hundreds that compete in USTA Saint Louis junior tournaments. Junior tennis tournaments represent players between the ages of 12 and 18 and at all levels of play, providing opportunities for kids to further a future tennis career, make their high school or college team, or to simply have fun playing the game of tennis.
