St. Louis Teams Represent at Section Championships

Several Saint Louis teams and players stood out at the 2019 USTA Missouri Valley Junior Team Tennis Section Championships from July 22-24, 2019, at Lafortune Tennis Center in Tulsa, OK. 

 

22 teams (153 total players) were divided up into four divisions: 18U Advanced, 18U Intermediate, 14U Intermediate and 12U Green Intermediate. 

 

The four divisions were split up as follows: 

18UA: 3 teams

18UI: 8 teams

14UI: 7 teams

12UI: 4 teams

 

In the 18U Intermediate division, Creve Coeur Racquet Club (CCRC) and Edwardsville represented Saint Louis in the standings, earning 2nd and 7th place, respectively. 

 

CCRC took a few sets in the 14U Intermediate division as well, placing 6th in the final rankings. 

 

In the 12U Intermediate division, the Sunset Hot Shots came in 4th place. 

 

Along with the team competition awards, Saint Louis players were recognized for their exemplary attitudes as well. 

 

At the completion of each team match, each coach nominated one boy and one girl from the opposing team as their sportsmanship selection. Below are the Saint Louis players that received the most nominations from coaches: 

 

18U Intermediate: Brendan Cunnane from Creve Coeur Racquet Club

12U Green Intermediate: Noah Butler from Sunset Hot Shots

 

Edwardsville 18U and Sunset Hot Shots 12U were both also recognized for the best Team Chants in their divisions.
