Set, Mixed & Chill Ready for 2020

Jamie Hansen | March 26, 2020

Friday nights this summer will be the hottest night of the week with the USTA ST. Louis Under 40 Set, Mixed and Chill league! Players under the age of 45 are eligible for play in this relaxed, fun league at Shaw Park in Clayton.

You must be 18-45 years old and have an USTA membership to play. New this year the league has added a 7.0 combo flight so recreational and competitive club players can join in on the fun!

Michael O’Neill, league coordinator, said last summer the league had 73 players and in 2020, they hope that total increases to nearly 100.

“It’s a super fun league that is very social and very inviting,” O’Neill said.

Set, Mixed and Chill ramps up June 12 and will run through August 14. Three combination level flights help you find the level for that is right for you!  Sign up to grab a spot on a team. If you already have enough people for a team, you can sign up as a team, as well.

Each level cannot exceed its mixed ranking, but the combination of players can score out below.  The 7.0 level consists of players with a NTRP ranked 2.5-4.0. For the 8.0 combination level flight, players 3.5-4.0 play together. The open level is geared towards players 4.5 and up.

Teams band together to play five total sets, consisting of men’s and women’s singles and doubles, as well as a set of mixed doubles. Sets go to six games each, with no-ad. Should a set end tied at 6-6, a seven-point tiebreaker decides the set.

You can register for all levels at tennislink.usta.com. The registration number for 7.0 is 4049527109. The registration number for 8.0 is 4049527110. For the Open division, the registration number on Tennis Link is 4049527111.

Have a great Friday night, meet new people and get a bit of exercise for a registration fee of $45! USTA provides the tennis balls and there are no other court fees!
