STL One Night Tourneys Fun for All
Update: the November event has been cancelled due to new COVID-19 restrictions placed on the county. Please plan to join us at the next One Night Tournament on February 6, 2021.
Looking for a way to spice up your USTA St. Louis tennis experience? STL One Night tournaments may be right up your alley!
The single-night tourneys are the perfect mix of competition and fun. Mary Vassar, Executive Director of USTA St. Louis, said this format is a great way to play a lot of tennis and meet new people.
“The play is social yet competitive, with staggered bye rounds so teams have time to visit and enjoy a light dinner,” Vassar said. “Entries are limited and teams are selected on a first come, first serve basis. It’s best to register early to secure your spot in the draw!”
The competition typically lasts five hours – but that five hours is chock full of tennis. The format is typically mixed doubles with shortened matches and round robin play to make sure you get in a lot of play.
The tournament draw is contingent on how many teams register. And depending on the level, available slots fill up quickly. Teams can sign up for the following NTRP levels: NTRP Combined Mixed 6.0 Doubles, NTRP Combined Mixed 7.0 Doubles, NTRP Combined Mixed 8.0 Doubles and NTRP Combined Mixed 9.0 Doubles.
There are two remaining STL One Night tournaments left in 2020! The October 24 competition is slated for Dwight Davis Center. If a fun evening of tennis is not enough to convince you to find a partner and register – maybe the s’mores will tip you over the edge. Yes, fire pits will be present for the night to keep warm, if needed. And for chocolate and marshmallow goodness. Get in the game and register for October 24 play here.
The action moves indoors to Forest Lake Tennis Club on November 21. Divisions are Mixed Open Doubles, NTRP Women's 4.0 Doubles, NTRP Combined Mixed 7.0 Doubles and NTRP Combined Mixed 8.0 Doubles. Get more information or register for November’s tournament here.
