Trio of USTA St. Louis junior competitors receive SuperSport recognition
In collaboration with the Match Tennis App, the USTA Missouri Valley is running an all-new sportsmanship initiative—known as SuperSport—to recognize players who display standout sporting behavior during tournaments or matches. The campaign aims to help cultivate a positive and respectful environment for competitors of all ages and abilities.
Within USTA St. Louis, a trio of junior competitors—Skye Madatali, Madison Evans and Vuk Nikolic—have earned recognition as SuperSport winners for 2024.
Madatali’s nominator had this to say about her on the submission form: “After a tough third-set loss she still waited for me to walk back up to the tournament desk. Most people just grab their stuff and leave as fast as possible. She was also very fair with close line calls.”
Evans’s nominator said this when nominating her for SuperSport recognition: “Extremely friendly and polite. Best court manners we’ve seen in a long time!”
And Nikolic’s nominator said he demonstrated a “good on-court attitude.”
Players, spectators, tournament staff and coaches can nominate up to three players with terrific sportsmanship at each individual tournament held within the USTA Missouri Valley.
Any player competing in USTA Level 3 to Level 7 or Junior Circuit tournaments within the USTA Missouri Valley is eligible for SuperSport participation. And any player participating in L4 to L7 adult tournaments—NTRP, age group or family tournaments—within the USTA Missouri Valley is eligible for the SuperSport campaign.
Individuals can win prizes throughout the year as part of a tiered award system for being nominated as good sports at both the district and section levels. A grand prize award is given to one junior and one adult with the highest number of qualified nominations from Jan. 1 to July 31. The grand prize is a trip for two to the 2024 US Open. It includes ground pass tickets for two, $800 in airfare, a $500 hotel grant and a $30 US Open Store gift card.
