The NCAA Tournament is Here: Everything You Need to Know

The 2022 NCAA Tennis Championship has officially arrived. The Division I tournament will kick off May 6-7, while the Division II tournament follows shortly thereafter on May 9-10. In all, 64 Division I teams and 48 Division II teams will take to the courst to battle it our for their respective championships. A total of 17 teams from our section will be competing in the two tournaments.

 

Below you will find further information on each tournament, including which Missouri Valley schools and players will be competing.

 

Oklahoma University's women's team made the finals, ultimately 4-1 falling to rival Texas. Oklahoma finished the season ranked No. 2 nationally, while the Oklahoma State University women finished just outside the top-10 at No. 11. 

 

The University of Central Oklahoma women wrapped up the Division II tournament with a strong performance. They finished the season 22-2 and lost 4-1 in the championship match to undefeated Barry (24-0).

 

Seward County Community College (Neb.) claimed the program's first National Championship at the National Junior College Athletic Association Men's Tennis Championship. Head Coach Mitch Vechione was also named the Max Grubbs Coach of the Tournament

 

Division I Championship

First and second round competition will take place May 6-7 at 16 hots sites, including two Missouri Valley sites. The winner of each site will advance to a super-regional on May 13 or 14. Each super-regional winner will advance to the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex in Champaign, Illinois, where the eight teams will compete for the national championship May 19-22. The event will be hosted by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Division II Championship

The preliminary rounds will be played May 9-10 at 16 regional host sites. Winners from each tegional site wll then advance to the finals May 17-21 at Altamonte Springs, Florida.
