Sue Bramlette of Cashiers, N.C., formerly of Houston, was recognized with its annual Seniors’ Service Award at the 2025 USTA Annual Meeting & Conference in Carlsbad, Calif.

The Seniors’ Service Award was established in 1958 to recognize and honor a person for service to senior tennis. It is awarded annually on the basis of the recipient’s willingness, cooperation and participation—either in play or organizational work—to work for the betterment of senior tennis competition.

Bramlette was the longtime tournament director of the National Senior Women’s Clay Court Championships in Houston, having recently stepped down after running the event for nearly 20 years. She is credited with not only expanding the event, including increasing the draw sizes and number of divisions, but also enhancing the event through fundraising and other efforts. As an accomplished senior player herself, she has spent decades involved in senior tennis and is one of the most recognized and respected figures in women’s senior tennis.

“Sue has always understood the lifelong value of tennis, and her decades of service to senior tennis are a testament to that,” said Brian Vahaly, USTA President and Chairman of the Board. “Her commitment to women’s senior tennis—especially through her long-standing leadership as tournament director in Houston—is unmatched. We’re grateful for all she’s done and wish her the very best in retirement.”
