TEAM USA WINS BIG At 2019 ITF Super-Seniors

September 23, 2019

Team USA claimed half of the first-place trophies on offer at the 39th annual ITF Super-Senior World Team Championships, held from Sept. 15-20 in Umag, Croatia.

The women’s team won three titles while the men won two, which included a three-peat in the men’s 85-and-over division, following the event's debut in 2017.

In addition to the men's 85s, the U.S. successfully retained its title in the women's 65-and-over division, once again winning the Kitty Godfree Cup, but fell short of a record-setting fifth straight Doris Hart Cup in the women's 80-and-over division. The U.S. entered with an opportunity to break a tie with Canada for the most titles in the event, but finished second to Argentina.

The Red, White and Blue were also crowned champions in the women's 85-and-overs in the inaugural edition of the division, and the 75-and-over men claimed the Bitsy Grant Cup by defeating Austria.

The World Individual Championships run from Sept. 21-28.
