Adult 18 & Over Teams Advance To Nationals

SOUTH HADLEY, MA- Nine more New England USTA League teams have advanced to Nationals thanks to championship performances at Adult 18 & Over Sectionals from August 17-19 at Mt. Holyoke College in South Hadley, MA.

 

 

The 18 & Over Sectional event is the only one of the summer played outdoors, prepping men’s and women’s teams for an entirely outdoor National Championship.

 

Teams ranging from 2.5 to 4.5 NTRP ratings competed at Sectionals.

 

Here are the winning teams that will be representing New England at Nationals in October and November:

 

2.5 Women

 

Suzanna Quinn led her team from Weston Racquet Club in Weston, CT to a 2.5 Sectionals victory. Her squad went 3-0 in flight play with a 7-2 position record, defeating teams from Cedardale Health and Fitness, Ludlow Tennis Club and the Racket and Fitness Center. ADVERTISEMENT Weston will be competing at Nationals from October 12-14 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.  

 

3.0 Women

 

Jeanne Consiglio led her team, All About the Ace, which plays out of Milford Indoor Tennis in Milford, CT, to a 3.0 title. The team narrowly beat out Overserved & Underrated, from Rally Point Racquet Club, winning by one individual match.

 

Milford Indoor fell to Rally Point in their head-to-head match, but was able to string together wins against Central Lincoln County YMCA and Wimbledon 109 Tennis Club to earn an 8-7 position record, just eclipsing Rally Point’s 7-8 mark.  

 

Both Central Lincoln County YMCA and Wimbledon 109 Tennis Club finished 1-2, with 8-7 and 7-8 position scores respectively.

 

Milford Indoor will compete from October 12-14 at Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas.

 

3.0 Men

 

Robert Goldstein’s squad from Rally Point Racquet Club in Smithfield, RI, went 2-0 in its three-team flight to capture the 3.0 championship. The team finished with an 8-2 individual record, beating teams from the Racket and Fitness Center and Ludlow Tennis club. Rally Point will be competing from October 12-14 at Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas.

 

3.5 Women

 

Brenda Gordon and her Tennis Addicts team based out of Old Greenwich Tennis Academy in Greenwich, CT, took home the 3.5 crown. The Tennis Addicts finished 3-0 (13-2) in their flight and defeated teams from the Tennis & Fitness Center Of Rocky Hill, Tennis Central, and Cedardale. The team will compete at Nationals from October 12-14 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.

 

3.5 Men

 

Phillip Green’s team out of Rally Point, took home the club’s second title of the weekend. Rally Point went 3-0 (12-3) and defeated teams from Bay Road Tennis Club, Maine Pines Racquet and Fitness Club and BSC Lexington to capture the 3.5 title. Rally Point will compete at Nationals from October 12-14 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando.

 

4.0 Women

 

Alicia Stansbury led her team out of the Weymouth Club in Weymouth, MA to a 4.0 Sectionals victory. The team went 3-0 (11-4) and defeated teams from Rally Point, Racket and Fitness and Hampton Tennis Barn to win the flight. Weymouth will compete at Nationals from October 26-28 at the Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas.

 

4.0 Men

 

A team from Algonquin Indoor Tennis Center in Hookset, NH took home the 4.0 Men’s title. Todd Toler led his team to the top finish in a four-team flight, edging out the Woodlands Club, Lakeville Athletic Club and Rally Point all by a 3-2 score. Toler’s team finished 3-0 (9-6). Algonquin will compete at 4.0 Nationals at the Arlington Tennis Center in Arlington, TX from October 5-7.

 

4.5 Women

 

Lindsay Ebbert and her team from Woburn Racquet Club got the better of a team from the Racket and Fitness Center in a two-team flight to take home the 4.5 Women’s title. Woburn defeated Racket and Fitness by a team score of 2-0 with both ending 3-2 in positions. The team will compete at Nationals from October 12-14 at the Arlington Tennis Center in Arlington, TX.

 

4.5 Men

Chris Terpko led his men’s team from Shrewsbury Health and Racket Club to a 4.5 Sectionals title. The team finished 3-0 in flight play with an 11-4 position record thanks to wins against teams from Rally Point, Farmington Farms Tennis & Athletic Club and Great Bay Tennis. Terpko’s team will also compete at Nationals from October 12-14 at the Arlington Tennis Center in Arlington, TX.
