HOPKINTON YOUTH SPORTS ASSOCIATION TO HOST TENNIS COURT GRAND OPENING ON JUNE 23

HOPKINTON, NH- The Hopkinton Youth Sports Association (HYSA) will be hosting a grand opening and ribbon cutting on Saturday, June 23 from 10 am to 12 pm to celebrate Hopkinton Middle/High School’s newly refurbished tennis courts.

HYSA and the Town of Hopkinton were able to restore the previously neglected courts thanks to generous contributions from the United States Tennis Association (USTA) along with USTA New England and USTA New Hampshire. The process of restoring the courts will take place over a six-week period.

“I am so excited that these courts are getting new life, and that a whole new generation of tennis players get to enjoy them,” said Chuck Gregory, Treasurer and Tennis Commissioner of the HYSA. ADVERTISEMENT “The blended lines will be great for the kids. I can’t wait to hit balls and play games with the youngsters this summer. The USTA and its New England Section have been terrific through this whole process!”

The first hour of the grand opening will be geared towards children ages 5-8, will feature anobstacle course and will allow parents to hit with their children. The second hour will be more focused on kids ages 8-12 and will use the smaller tennis court lines. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.

“USTA New England is thrilled to have contributed to this process and I am eager for programming to begin on the new courts and to watch tennis grow in the Hopkinton community,” said Eric Driscoll, USTA Tennis Service Representative for Maine and New Hampshire.”

The courts will be available to the public following the opening and HYSA will begin youth and adult programming in July.
