Locals Earn ITA Year-End Awards
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced the men's and women's Division I regional award winners on Monday, May 15th. The national award winners will be released on Tuesday, May 23rd. New England took home nine awards in total, which included players, coaches and schools.
Below is a list of the winners either from New England or who play collegiately in New England:

Wilson/ITA Coach of the Year: Judy Dixon - University of Massachusetts
ITA Senior Player of the Year: Taylor Ng - Dartmouth College
ITA/Cissie Leary Award for Sportsmanship: Jacqueline Crawford - Dartmouth College
ITA Community Service Award: Dartmouth College
Northwest Region
ITA Player to Watch: Melissa Lord - Stanford
Men
Northeast Region
ITA Assistant Coach of the Year: Andrew Reub - Harvard University
ITA Most Improved Player (Senior): Tyler Liu - Yale University
ITA Rookie of the Year: Charles Broom - Dartmouth College

Congratulations to the July USTA League Captains of the Month, Sam Rubin, of Brookline, MA and Hilary Holm, of Whitefield, ME! Sam Rubin started as a Social Tennis League player, where he’s played in Boston area sites for years. It was there he found out about the opportunity to serve as a captain of the 18-39 league out of Eastern Mass. The Friendship Cup has a rich history and successful story of establishing international camaraderie and sisterhood both on and off the court. The tradition started in 1967 when Walter Foeger of Vermont was looking to establish competitive senior tennis play in alliance with the New England Lawn Tennis Association (NELTA), now USTA New England. He contacted George Barta of the Canadian senior division, and together, they created the Friendship Cup. In that year, players competed on three courts at the Jay Peak Resort in Vermont. Read More
