USTA NEW ENGLAND CELEBRATES TOP JUNIORS OF 2019

 

BRIGHTON, MA- USTA New England honored its top junior players and teams of 2019 in a ceremony at the Warrior Ice Arena in Brighton, MA on Sunday, October 27. The first ever Junior Banquet shined a light on New England Sectional Champions, Sportsmanship Award winners and national selection teams, among others.

 

“Our junior players are the foundation of our organization, and it’s a joy to see them excel both on and off the court. It is our privilege to celebrate them for all they’ve accomplished in 2019, and we know they will continue to do great things in New England and beyond,” said USTA New England President and CEO, Peter Parrotta.

 

USTA New England honored its eight Junior Sectionals winners, four Junior Team Tennis (JTT) Sectional-winning teams, six sportsmanship award winners, the New England 18 & Over National Team Championship teams, Intersectionals and Zonals teams as well as the USTA Foundation Excellence Team in New England.

 

Former New England JTT Sectional Champion and current Bentley University men’s tennis player, Connor Aulson, emceed the ceremony.

Junior Sectionals Champions

Girls’ 12s winner, Sydney Jara

Boys’ 12s winner, Joseph Oyebog

Girls’ 14s winner, Oziera Ahmad

Boys’ 14s winner, Kaiaitz Mendibe

Girls’ 16s winner, Violet Robbins

Boys’ 16s winner, Alex Visser

Girls’ 18s winner, Mary Stoiana

Boys’ 18s winner, Andrew Ilie

 

JTT Sectionals Champions

18 and Under Advanced- Yellow Jackets from New Hampshire, coached by Jurgen Georgs.

18 and Under Advanced (National Wild Card)- Team Edgewood, from Edgewood Swim & Tennis in Raynham, MA, coached by Fil Miguel.

18 and Under Intermediate- Croc Fever, from Longfellow Nashua, NH, coached by Nick Wagner and Zach Suozzo.

14 and Under Intermediate- MadRackets, from Madison Racquet & Swim Club in Madison, CT, Coached by Rick Fay.

USTA Foundation Excellence Team

A group of 16 students from Sportsmen’s Tennis & Enrichment Center in Dorchester, MA. 

 

USTA New England will recognize the rest of its 2019 Award Winners in a ceremony at New England Tennis Weekend on Saturday, November 16 in Newton, MA.
