  • Favorite professional player: Juan Martin del Potro 
  • Favorite cross training sport: Skiing
  • Favorite subject in school: Social Studies
  • Favorite movie: What We Did On Our Holiday 
  • If you could go to dinner with one person, who would it be? Coco Gauff 
  • Racquet brand you use: Yonex right now, but testing some Head Racquets before I fully commit 
  • Something you always have in your tennis bag:  Solinco Grips, they are the only grips I use, and my Smith Sunglasses. 
  • What does sportsmanship mean to you?  Sportsmanship means being fair on the court and being respectful to your opponent even when things aren’t going your way.  
  • What did it mean to you to win the sportsmanship award at a national tournament?  I was so surprised I was chosen!   It was a really big honor to be selected out of so many great players.  
  • One thing people don't know about you: My absolute favorite fitness activity is running suicides.

    The USTA announced that Xander Barber, of Falmouth, Maine, was named the male recipient of the 2023 USTA National Junior Scholar Athlete Award. Barber recently graduated from Falmouth High School after relocating to Maine from Asheville, N.C., ahead of his senior year. His impact on the tennis court was felt immediately as Barber led Falmouth to a state championship and was named the state’s Player of the Year. Read More
