NEW ENGLAND FACILITIES RECEIVE $1.2 MILLION THROUGH TENNIS VENUE SERVICES
WESTBOROUGH, MA - USTA New England is proud to announce that 1.24 million has been awarded to 20 local tennis facilities in 2025 through the USTA’s Tennis Venue Services (TVS) program. The funding supports facility improvements, court construction and renovation, and long-term planning that ensures communities have safe, high-quality places to play.
Administered nationally, the TVS program provides facilities with technical expertise, project guidance and facility assistance grants. USTA New England partners closely with local organizations throughout the application and development process, helping them access resources that expand tennis opportunities for players of all ages and abilities.
“These grants support tennis infrastructure in local communities to ensure more people have access to courts. We’re thrilled to help bring these projects to life across New England,” said Sarah Wishart, Director, Recreational Programs & Facilities for USTA New England.
Since its inception in 2005, the TVS program has helped thousands of facilities nationwide assess needs, plan improvements and complete construction projects. In 2025 alone, nearly $16 million was awarded nationally, the program’s largest funding year to date.
This year’s New England recipients include a diverse mix of schools, parks, public recreation departments, commercial clubs and community tennis centers.
One of the 2025 projects was in Milford, NH, where the town officially opened four newly resurfaced courts at Keyes Memorial Park in October. Milford received $18,000 in TVS support, helping restore courts that had become unsafe for play.
“After the 2024 season, we knew we couldn’t use the courts again safely, so we had to find a solution,” said Nancy McManus, Milford High Girls’ Varsity Coach. “We reached out to the USTA and other donors who recognized the value of having these courts here, and we truly appreciate the support. Now our teams have a home facility for the 2025 season and beyond.”
The courts are named in honor of the late Malcolm Rotch, who contributed to the Milford High boys’ state championship in 1966.
The Central Lincoln County YMCA in Damariscotta, ME, USTA New England’s 2018 Community Tennis Organization of the Year and 2022 NJTL of the Year, received more than $55,000 for an upcoming project to insulate its ceiling and install reflective liners above two indoor courts.
“This upgrade will make our space more energy efficient and more enjoyable for our members and families,” said Georgia Ahlers, Racquet Sports Director. “We believe it will help grow membership and further strengthen our youth programs.”
The TVS program offers funding across three categories that support everything from basic facility enhancements to major construction and indoor upgrades. This tiered structure ensures that facilities of all sizes, whether making small improvements or undertaking full court builds, can access the resources needed to create safe, modern and sustainable playing environments.
