Annual North South Wheelchair Challenge Comes Down to the Wire

USTA Southern California | October 23, 2018


Wheelchair tennis players from both Southern and Northern California met in Fresno October 20-21 for the Annual North South Wheelchair Challenge. A great weekend was had by all, full of good tennis, camaraderie and fun.

 

After day 1 Northern Cal was well ahead, but So Cal battled back on Sunday and by the end of day 2 it was a 12-12 tie. It came down to sets with Nor Cal winning 27-26.  Congratulations to the Nor Cal team. But not to worry, Team So Cal is already planning how to get the cup back next year.

 

Thanks to all our players for their great efforts… Anthony Lara, Atif Moon, Jose Estrada, Michael Garafola, JJ Solis, Henry Reyes , Tam Albertson, Mark Jones, Tom Ayala, Jerry Russell, and to our SCTA Staff members who kept the event running smoothly…Tiffany Geller Reed and Maria Goldberg.

Fifteen universities were represented, with schools sending multiple teams within their clubs to compete.
