2019 ADULT 65 & OVER SECTIONAL RESULTS
Dallas won four of the six divisions, while NETX and Austin also went home champions at the Adult 65 & Over Sectional Championships from November 1-3 in New Braunfels.
Ladies 6.0 Champions - NETX
In the Ladies 6.0 division, NETX won the title by defeating Corpus Christi 2-1 on Sunday morning. NETX earned a spot in the finals by narrowly finishing atop its flight, winning a tiebreak with both Wild San Antonio and Fort Worth.
Team "Cavin" is captained by Barbara Cavin. The team roster includes: Jeannine McMahon, Jerrilyne Roberson, Barbara White, Kandy Wharton, Diann Bennett, Suzan Lanclos, Esther Tividad, Connie Hagen, Reeda Taylor and Jane Ball.
Men's 6.0 Champions - Dallas
Dallas won its fourth straight Men's 6.0 title, going 3-0 with an 8-1 individual score. The team lost just two sets throughout the weekend.
"High Point/Montelbano M6.0" plays out of High Point Park Tennis Center in Plano and is captained by Ross Montelbano. Their roster consists of: Larry Parnell, Ron Jakus, Tom Ray, Jerry Kwiecien, Paul Britton, Dennis Rosini, David Wright and Ed Hall.
Ladies 7.0 Champions - Austin
Austin put in an impressive performance to win the 15-team Ladies 7.0 division. In flight play, Austin went 4-0, losing just two sets along the way. The team then defeated San Antonio 2-1 in the semifinals before sweeping Dallas 3-0 in the finals.
Team "New Age" plays out of Pharr Tennis Center and is captained by Carol Rosa. The team features members Charlsa Bently, Gloria Kerin, Ellen Wahlers, Nancy Leboeuf, Janet Wargo, Virginia Hatch, Jacqueline Davis, Linda Hodges, Sharon Neusel and Mary Wood.
Men's 7.0 Champions - Dallas
Dallas took down last year's champions in the finals to win the Men's 7.0 title. The team advanced to the finals after winning the tiebreak with NOHO, then defeated Waco 2-1 to earn the trophy.
"Greenhill/Kayser M7.0" plays out of Greenhill Tennis Center in Addison and is captained by Robert Kayser. The 15 man roster includes: David Darouse, Allan Lambert, David Frame, John Stephens, Bob Blesi, Tony Wynn, Philip Hurley, Lloyd Smith, Ed Graves, Jim Walters, Ron Marshall, David Shatzer, Dennis Rosini and Don Harvey.
Ladies 8.0 Champions - Dallas
Dallas dominated the Ladies 8.0 division, taking the title 3-0 over Austin. Dallas won 73% of its games in flight play, going 3-0 on Friday and Saturday before winning the title on Sunday.
"Greenhill/Driver-Lookadoo W8.0" plays out of Greenhill Tennis Center in Addison, is captained by Kenni Driver and co-captained by Marilyn Lookadoo. The roster features players Patricia Crosby, Carol Brady, Kathy Langer, Jane Morrill, Jill Cohn, Mary Dwiggins, Nancy Ebersole, Nidia Bridges, Kitty Smith, Barbara Valente and Charlotte Ereckson.
Men's 8.0 Champions - Dallas
Dallas defeated last year's champions Fort Worth to win the Men's 8.0 division. Dallas went 3-0 in flight play before beating Fort Worth 2-1 in the finals on Sunday.
"LifeTime Fitness/Kemp M8.0" plays out of Life Time Athletic Plano and is captained by Steve Kemp. The roster includes Jeff Schaffer, Charles Beckner, Samuel Lee, John Freshwater, Phil McGregor, Dan Moen, Gerald Cambron, Mike Robinson, Jim Crowther, Billy Roberts, Rob Franklin, Douglas Bridges, Frank Timmins and Randy Deutschendorf.
