2019 ADULT 40 & OVER SECTIONAL RESULTS
Dallas earned five of the eight spots to Nationals by winning at the 40 & Over Section Championships on September 15 in Houston.
Women’s 3.0 Champions – Dallas
Dallas won the head-to-head tiebreak with Laredo in flight play, then defeated San Antonio 4-1 for the Women’s 3.0 title. The team will head to the 40 & Over 3.0 National Championships held at the USTA National Campus in Orlando from October 18-20.
"DAC/McCrary-Tompkins W3.0" is captained by Elizabeth McCrary, co-captained by Shelly Tompkins and play out of Dallas Athletic Club in Mesquite. Their roster features players Laura Jolly, Carrie Miller, Amy Moore, Wendy Thomas, Glenda Fodge, Connie Baird, Renee Badger, Heather Evetts, Laura Frazure, Yvette Freeman and Amy Sherpardson.
Men’s 3.0 Champions – Dallas
Dallas took the Men’s 3.0 division by winning all four of its team matches, beating out San Antonio and Austin for the title. The team will head to the 40 & Over 3.0 National Championships held at the USTA National Campus in Orlando from October 18-20.
“Brad Jost M3.0” are captained by Judson Jost and co-captained by Brian Sipes. Their roster includes the following players: Mike Deleonardis, John Hansmann, Richard Truong, Timothy Nguyen, Christopher Abel, Kenneth Russell, Mario Cardenas, Todd Johnson, Vale Krenik and Padraic O’Hara.
Women’s 3.5 Champions – Dallas
Dallas earned the final spot in the semifinals after going 3-1 in flight play, but defeated Wild Dallas 3-2 in the semifinals and NOHO 3-2 in the finals to earn the Women’s 3.5 championship. The team will head to the 40 & Over 3.5 National Championships at the OKC Tennis Center in Oklahoma City from October 18-20.
“SpringPark/Young W3.5” are captained by Jennifer Young, co-captained by Ana O’Reilly and play out of Springpark Sports Club in Garland. Their roster of 18 includes Aundi Henderson, Teri Wilson, Michelle Hefner, Danielle White, Cheryl Bradley, Melissa Sipes, Jenna Dinh, Michelle Coates, Heather Williams, Marla Howard, Sheri Colaluca, Wendy Woodward, Susan Rubin, Louise Kwong Hing, Michelle Moore and Shannon Caruthers.
Men’s 3.5 Champions – Houston
Houston went undefeated in flight play – winning all 30 sets the team played – before dispatching San Antonio in the finals 4-1 to win the Men’s 3.5 division. The team will head to the 40 & Over 3.5 National Championships at the OKC Tennis Center in Oklahoma City from October 18-20.
“HFTC – Hurricanes” are captained by Jason Freeman and play out of Homer Ford Tennis Center. Their roster includes Greg Wiley, Trey Greco, Edsel Esquivel, Tin Dang, Pin Chiu, Ivan Muller-Sierra, Hugo Palencia, Brad Beinart, John Lu, Thomas Rapson, Greg Leiker, Garrett Van Osdell, Jeffrey Kennedy, Steven Briggs, Chuck Broussard and Richard Patton.
Women’s 4.0 Champions – Dallas
Dallas finished atop its flight with ease, before downing Austin 3-2 in the semifinals and beating Fort Worth 3-2 in the finals to win the Women’s 4.0 Championship. The team will go to the 40 & Over 4.0 National Championships at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Surprise, Arizona from October 11-13.
Greenhill/Herman W4.0S are captained by Eve Herman and play out of Greenhill Tennis Center in Addison. Their roster of 20 includes: Patricia Arvanitis, Laura Adams, Amanda Craft, Elizabeth Shaw, Martha Davis, Patyy Snider, Ryoko Suzuki, Kara Berger, Jennifer Gibson, Mimi Tran, Jodee Kolanowski, Kim Adamcik, Karen Huffman, Julie Haldeman, Trish Chandler, Anne Landino, Allyson Garrison, Claire Stone and Marnie Pizzitola.
Men’s 4.0 Champions – NOHO
NOHO finished behind San Antonio in flight play, but got its revenge in the finals by winning 4-1, taking the Men’s 4.0 division. NOHO is on its way to the 40 & Over 4.0 National Championships at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex in Surprise, Arizona from October 11-13.
“Woodlands-Freeman” are captained by Jason Freeman, co-captained by Michael Spearman and play out of Sawmill Park in The Woodlands. Their roster features James Robinson, Hugo Palencia, Phillip Wills, Alfredo Garcia Rick Malone, Scott Boarman, Donn Nguyen, Kristopher Knutson, Dean Cushing, Mark Mattson, Alex Leighton, Luis Martinez, Robert Klein, Derek Taylor, Phil Kerig, Benjamin Ho, Mario Garcia, Tuyen Nguyen, Red Benzon, Karel Losada, Adam Riggs, Ian Bird and Ramiro Galicia.
Women’s 4.5+ Champions – Austin
Austin proved victorious in the Women’s 4.5+ division, going 3-0 in flight play before defeating NOHO 3-2 in the finals. The team earned a trip to the 40 & Over 4.5+ National Championships at the USTA National Campus in Orlando from October 25-27.
“Patriots wknd” are captained by Jill Griffin, co-captained by Cherie Hall and play out of South Austin Tennis Center. Austin’s roster features Barbara Knaggs, Pam Bartay, Jennifer Benedict, Molly Polacek, Lisa Ruggiero, Tiffany Kelle Grana, Luann Lubojasky, Linda Haddox, Kristen Foster, Renata Myers, Melanie Rychlik, Marla Gostisha, Amy Cunningham, Jackie Kablesh, Wendy Graham, Leah Little, Paula Noe and Kristen Guszak.
Men’s 4.5+ Champions – Dallas
Dallas took home the Men’s 4.5+ title thanks to a 3-0 record in flight play and a 3-2 win over Houston in the finals. The team is now headed to the 40 & Over 4.5+ National Championships at the USTA National Campus in Orlando from October 25-27.
“Gleneagles CC/Juhn M4.5+” are captained by Thomas Juhn and play out of Gleneagles Country Club in Plano. The winning roster includes Chris Stanley, Philip Aponte, Christopher Culley, Robert Reeves, Doug Lueders, Chris Collins, Ken Moraif, Mark Zacheis, K Mark Slemon, Henry Juan Gonzalez, Tim Brownlee and Hernan Collar.
