2019 MIXED 18 & OVER SECTIONAL RESULTS
Houston and Dallas led the way with two titles while Austin took home one at the 2019 Mixed 18 & Over Sectionals from October 4-6 in Abilene.
Five different cities came away with titles at this year's Adult 55 & Over Sectional Championships in Dallas from October 5-6. Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, NOHO and San Antonio will all be sending teams to the 55 & Over National Championships to be held later this year.
Mixed 6.0 Champions – Dallas
Dallas, NETX and Amarillo all finished 3-1 in flight play, but Dallas finished with the best individual score, giving them the Mixed 6.0 title. The team will head to the Mixed 18 & Over 6.0 National Championships at the USTA National Campus in Orlando from November 8-10.
"Fretz/Johnson X6.0" is captained by Todd Johnson and play out of Fretz Tennis Center. Their roster of players includes: Judson Jost, Brian Sipes, Dorothy Buechel, Tracy Graivier, Paula Ramirez-White, Anthony Cunningham, Ann Masciarotte, Nicole Hinkle, Linda Murphy, Jana Hughes, Timothy Nguyen, Sophie Nini, Jay Joseph and Robert Asbill.
Mixed 7.0 Champions – Austin
Austin won an extremely tight Mixed 7.0 division, beating Lubbock in head-to-head in flight play, defeating Dallas 2-1 in the semis, then downing Houston 2-1 in the finals. The team earned a trip to the Mixed 18 & Over 7.0 National Championships at the USTA National Campus in Orlando from November 1-3.
"Drinking Team w/a Tennis Problem" is captained by Vi Nanthaveth, co-captained by Pushkar Chhajed and plays out of Austin Tennis Center. The team features 20 players: Victor Ramirez, Barbara McGary, John Jordan, Lisa Jordan, Matthew Reininger, Nathalie Goodman, Noah Kraft, Mavi Chapa, Carmela Gillenwater, Layne Walker, Jim Adkins, Darrell Maples, Kelly Ollendorff, Michael Totah, Tarsha Davis, Ryan Robles, Mark Gonzalez and Savannah Bryson.
Mixed 8.0 Champions – Houston
Houston dominated in flight play before beating Austin 2-1 in the semifinals and Fort Worth 2-1 in the finals to earn the Mixed 8.0 Championship. The team will head to the Mixed 18 & Over 8.0 National Championships at the USTA National Campus in Orlando from November 8-10.
"MPTC - Bad Aces" is captained by Michael Tran and plays out of Memorial Park Tennis Center. The team roster includes Amy Contant, Ryan Wong, Tuyen Nguyen, Jessica Le, Rachel Hill, Sara Sommers, Trisha Luong, Aileen Nacpil, Thai Chung, Diego Casco, XinhSylvia Le, Michael Clayborne, David Haddad, Michael Truong, Amy Cao, Connor Ha, Courtney McClellan, Arata Yamaguchi, Laura Fandry, Daniel Morales, Jordan Fandry and Chelsie Nolan.
Mixed 9.0 Champions – Houston
Houston went undefeated in flight play, winning 64% of its matches before defeating Austin 2-1 in the finals to earn the Mixed 9.0 crown. The team earned a trip to the Mixed 18 & Over 9.0 National Championships at the USTA National Campus in Orlando from November 1-3.
"LLTC - Swingers" is captained by Alain Tran and plays out of Lee Le Clear Tennis Center in Houston. The team roster features Blake Wilde, Shannen Jae Sombito, Genevieve Tarlton, Elizabeth Crider, XinhSylvia Le, Diego Casco, Cecile Wilde, James Bui, Christopher Sioco, Linh Nguyen, Ethan Bui, Karin Farquhar, Myer Ballesteros, Trung Trinh and Laurie Capra.
Mixed 10.0 Champions – Dallas
Dallas went undefeated in the Mixed 10.0 division, winning 67% of its matches and losing just four sets the entire weekend. The team will head to the Mixed 18 & Over 8.0 National Championships at the USTA National Campus in Orlando from November 8-10.
"Oak Creek/Nash X10.0" is captained by Cameron Nash and plays out of Oak Creek Tennis Center in Carrollton. The winning team includes Kyle Davidson, Bettina Rettenmaier, Andrie Meiring, Brenna Athens, Shane Johnson, Rachel Janssen, Scotty Martinson, Erick Delafuente, Nicholas Agritelley, Abigail White and Daniel Vejman.
