2025 USTA Texas CTA of the Year Award
What does receiving this award mean to you?
"This award means a tremendous amount to the Waco Tennis Association to our knowledge this is the first time. This award represents many years of growing tennis in our tennis community. Waco Tennis Association has a robust amount of offerings from juniors (NJTL), junior Grand Prix, adaptive tennis, Special Olympics and Unified Doubles." - Pete Pruneda, President of Waco Tennis Association
Presented at the 2025 Awards Luncheon at the Dallas/Plano Marriott at Legacy Town Center in Plano on Saturday, Feb. 8th.
For nearly a century, the Waco Tennis Association has provided inclusive programs for all ages and abilities. Its thriving junior programs, like NJTL and Junior Team Tennis, are developing future tennis stars, while its Special Olympics and Adaptive Tennis programs make tennis open to all. WTA continues to go above and beyond by providing thousands in scholarships to local students, supporting Baylor University's USTA-recognized College Tennis Hub Program, and innovations like its "Red Pickle Challenge" which introduces pickleball players to tennis!
With significant growth in participation and membership, the WTA is a true leader in the Texas tennis community. In 2026, they will celebrate their 100th anniversary, making them the oldest Community Tennis Association in Texas and one of the oldest in the nation – a testament to their enduring dedication to the sport and the community and one we know will continue into the next century.
Congratulations to this year’s USTA Texas CTA of the Year, the Waco Tennis Association.
