2025 USTA Texas Men's Senior Spirit of Tennis Award



Congratulations to the 2025 USTA Texas Men’s Senior Spirit of Tennis Award recipient, Phil King.

 

Established in 1992, this award honors a man who, in addition to his participation in USTA tennis tournaments and leagues, exemplifies the qualities of sportsmanship, enthusiasm, conditioning, and resourcefulness. With a cooperative spirit, the recipient honors and betters the lives of seniors on and off the court.

What does receiving this award mean to you?

"I am currently retired and living in Sun City located in Georgetown, Texas.  We have a very active tennis community and a very active level of USTA League participation.  This award would further highlight the involvement of tennis in our retirement community." - Phil King


Presented at the 2025 Awards Luncheon at the Dallas/Plano Marriott at Legacy Town Center in Plano on Saturday, Feb. 8th:

A tireless advocate for the sport, Phil King of Georgetown, actively participates in USTA leagues, Sectionals, and Nationals, inspiring others with his energy and enthusiasm. He’s a respected leader in Sun City, one of Texas' largest senior communities and always welcomes new residents and club members, while serving as a liaison for CATA and always encouraging community members to participate in USTA tournaments, leagues, and more. 

 

Phil's dedication to growing the game is infectious. He sponsors social programs, encourages participation, and fosters a welcoming environment for players of all levels. With the energy of someone half his age, Phil is a true ambassador for tennis in Central Texas, inspiring others with his passion and commitment to the sport.

 

Phil King embodies the spirit of tennis in Texas, making him a truly deserving recipient of the USTA Texas Men's Senior Spirit of Texas Award.
