2025 Julius Zinn Seniors' Service Award
Congratulations to the 2024 USTA Texas Julius Zinn Seniors’ Service Award recipient, David Dupree.
Established in 1997, this award honors a senior member of the Texas tennis community who is involved in senior tennis play, activity, or organizational work. It is awarded on the basis of the recipient’s willingness, cooperation, and participation for the betterment and furtherance of senior tennis.
What does receiving this award mean to you?
"This award recognizes how +55 Seniors can experience kid-like joy, fun, and learning on court shared with many others, reminding us of how to charge our "life batteries" through shared time on court. Raising the level of shared activity plus the number of hit balls while on court energizes their readiness for enjoying competition in both singles and doubles. Individual players find themselves immersed in our tennis community during the clinics.
For Sun City Texas, I imagine the tennis community will be greatly pleased to see USTA recognizing what they've been telling me -- that my commitment to enabling seniors' tennis, freely given, is extraordinarily unique, highly appreciated, and distinctly impactful. Also, with approx. half of all Sun City players on USTA league teams participants in the Clinics, they note how Sun City Texas has been increasingly competitive, winning CATA leagues, frequently winning Sectionals, and attracting tennis players to live in Sun City." - David Dupree
Presented at the 2025 Awards Luncheon at the Dallas/Plano Marriott at Legacy Town Center in Plano on Saturday, Feb. 8th:
There is no doubt about David Dupree’s dedication to senior tennis. He goes above and beyond by generously offering free lessons, clinics, and fun tournaments, fostering a vibrant environment for senior players in his community of Sun City outside of Georgetown. He has captained multiple 55 & Over and 65 & Over USTA League teams not to mention mixed doubles teams.
David's cooperative spirit shines through in his willingness to share his time and expertise. He understands the importance of teamwork and support, as exemplified by his heartfelt article in the Sun City community magazine celebrating the inspiring journey of fellow player Lee Schiel. David's passion and willingness to contribute make him a true champion for senior tennis in Texas.
Congratulations to this year’s USTA Texas Julius Zinn Senior Service Award recipient, David Dupree.
