About the winner:

A community landmark is defined not just by its physical footprint, but by the strength of the connections forged within its fences.

Wagon Wheel Tennis & Pickleball Center has been a staple of the Coppell sports landscape since its doors first opened in 2003 with eight original courts. Over the last twenty-three years, it has grown alongside its community, undergoing significant expansions to accommodate its ten tennis courts, twelve pickleball courts, and constantly evolving menu of programming. Their goal is to provide accessible, high-quality opportunities for players of all ages and skill levels to learn and enjoy the game of tennis. By placing a premium on top-tier service and continuous facility improvements, it has established a standard of excellence that its staff and players strive to uphold every single day.

Its mission is rooted in the belief that tennis is a vehicle for social connection, transforming the facility into a vibrant neighborhood hub rather than just another venue for play. Through its diverse leagues, lessons, and outreach, it has fostered an environment where new relationships are built and families are united by the game. This commitment to the player experience ensures that every visitor feels a genuine sense of belonging the moment they step onto the hard courts.

Perhaps nothing captures its innovative spirit better than its annual "Candy Bowl" event. What began as a small, two-hour free clinic during the pandemic has since flourished into a highly anticipated multi-day Halloween tradition that engages both youth and adult players in a celebration of fun and giving back. By finding creative ways to introduce the game to new audiences while honoring its long-time members, this facility continues to shine among member organizations across the state.

Driven by the philosophy that success happens when preparation meets opportunity, Wagon Wheel Tennis & Pickleball Center is an outstanding example of how a dedicated facility can uplift an entire community.
