Nolan, Xu, Perez Claim Texas Slam Titles

PLANO, Texas -- A handful of past champions return for victory at the 2026 Texas Slam junior tennis tournament in Plano.

 

Aidan Xu of Austin claimed the Boys’ 18 & Under title, defeating his doubles partner, AJ Deem of Fort Worth 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. Xu won Boys’ 16 & Under Doubles in the 2023 tournament with his brother, Allan.

 

"I've been playing the Slam for the past five years, every time getting super close. This year it feels amazing to finally take home the win," Xu said.

 

In the Girls’ 18 & Over final, No. 1 seed Lauren Nolan of Little Elm defeated No. 3 seed Autumn Xu of Frisco 6-0, 6-4. Nolan won Girls’ 12 & Under Doubles at the Texas Slam in 2021.

“I’ve played this tournament for five or six years now, and this is the first time I've won singles,” said Nolan. “I definitely put in the work it requires, so I'm happy that I got this result.”

 

In the junior wheelchair tennis division, No. 1 seed Jeremy Perez of Joshua claimed the Coed Wheelchair title, defending his champion status for the third year in a row.

 

Tournament Chair Clint Sumrow extended his gratitude to the many players and stakeholders involved in the event while praising their collective resilience:

 

"It was a true privilege to welcome so many talented athletes, dedicated coaches, and supportive families to High Point Tennis Center for the Texas Slam,” said Sumrow. “The exceptional sportsmanship displayed on the court, combined with the outstanding resilience of our staff and the unwavering dedication of our volunteers and sponsors, is what truly makes this tournament so special.”
